Whole30, Day 4: I Want a Doughnut!
The weirdest part of this diet is that I feel like I’m eating a ton of food. My portion sizes are much larger than I’m used to, especially for breakfast and lunch. But that’s the thing with the Whole30: there is no breakfast, lunch and dinner. It’s just meal 1, meal 2 and meal 3. And they should all be the same size and the same composition of foods. As a lifelong breakfast lover, this has been a tough concept to wrap my head around!
Today, I am totally craving sweets, particularly after a meal. I don’t know if that’s because I’ve trained myself to get something sweet after every meal or if it’s more biological (I just had savory, now I want sweet) but man would I love some chocolate. The wild thing is that things I wouldn’t have though of as sweet (and perhaps even would have added some form of sweetener to!) like plantains and sweet potatoes now feel like dessert. Well, almost.
According to the Whole30 Timeline I should be feeling: “Kill ALL the Things”
How I’m feeling: I want a doughnut! I’m not feeling particularly aggressive, but man my sugar dragon wants to be fed!
Other than cooking the sweet potatoes, plantains or eggs to go alongside a meal, I hadn’t done a lot of cooking since my Sunday food prep marathon. It was great to add a new main course into the mix tonight, and stave off any food boredom that was starting to develop.
