Whole30, Day 15: Halfway There!
Meals were delicious today. I had a small breakfast since we were up early to bring Lila in for surgery. But the scrambled eggs with spaghetti squash were surprisingly delicious, a winning combo! For dinner I paleofied one of my all time favorite dishes. It came out absolutely phenomenal, I think I almost like it better than the original! Same great flavor, but I can eat a huge plate of it with absolutely no guilt.
I have found myself getting a bit frustrated with the stringency of some of the Whole30 rules. It feels wasteful to have to replace ingredients because they have trace amounts of non-Whole30 compliant items. Like today, I had the basil paste I always use for the avocado pasta. I know it tastes great, but I couldn’t use is because it contains some trace amount of whey. So I went out and got some chopped basil that I doubted would even work as well. Would the amount of whey in 1/2 tbsp basil paste have any effect on me whatsoever? No, it’s completely arbitrary. But that’s what I’ve committed to, so I’ll follow through for these thirty days.
According to the Whole30 Timeline I should be feeling: Boundless energy, now give me a Twinkie! Your energy levels are better than normal, but your craving and even dreaming about your old comfort foods.
