Takeout Tuesday: Tacos and Heartbreak Edition!
After taking a couple of months off from Takeout Tuesday for the sake of Tuesday night Bocce games, we got the whole crew back together last night to revive the tradition!
While we’re excited to have Phil back in town (FOR GOOD!!!), we’re all said to be bidding adieu to Joanna and Craig. On the bright side, I guess this means I no longer have to go by “Jo with an H”? And I think a group trip to Denver is in order.
This is how Phil feels about Craig and Jo leaving right as he’s made his move to D.C. It was a moment.
Luckily, Fernando actually showed up this time and was there to comfort him. But much more important than all these boogers… the food!
In getting in the taco spirit, I made kiwi avocado guacamole to start things off. And everyone coincidentally brought Mexican beers.
Far East Taco Grille! This little joint on 15th St. NE originally started out as a Food Truck, and I’ve been meaning to try it for quite some time. The menu is slightly overwhelming… a lot of options and not a lot of guidance! I went with three tacos: tofu, chicken and pork. The best by far was the spicy flying pig taco with spicy mayo bahn mi style (center).
Courtney’s “wet burrito” was actually delicious. Way better than it looks, or sounds. I thought I’d learned my lesson about ordering things described as “wet” when I ordered “wet goat fry” the night before a long run… but this burrito disproves my hypothesis. Oh my, that mole sauce. My only complaint is that Courtney got it all over the new shorts I just bought him. Guess I’m not one to talk on that matter.
And a little burrito bowl action!
Lila is thrilled to have Uncle Phil back in town!
Also, remember the first picture I shared in the top of this post? I know you were wondering, “how did she get a group of nine that all look so good?” Yeah, well, this is what happens when the self-timer keeps clicking…
