Tailgate Friendly, Messy Kitchen Approved: Spicy Buffalo Hummus
The great thing about making your own hummus (other than the fact that it’s so freakin’ easy that why wouldn’t you make your own hummus?!) is that you can make any flavor you want! Anyone want to venture to guess what variety this girl chose?
That’s right. The BUFFALO CHICKEN variety. Well, minus the chicken. But you get the idea. And since blue cheese crackers/chips/pretzels don’t seem to exist, we went with ranch. Ranch Wheat Thins, at that. My other unnatural addition. I have a feeling this will be another concoction we’ll be seeing on Game Days!
Spicy Buffalo Hummus
Ingredients:
- 2 cans chickpeas, rinsed and drained
- 1/4 cup tahini
- 1/3 cup Frank’s Red Hot
- 2 T lemon juice
- 2 T light-colored beer (optional)
- Salt, to taste
Instructions:
Combine all ingredients in a food processor and mix well until smooth and creamy, adjusting to your taste. You may want to refrigerate if the processing has made the hummus warm. Drizzle with additional hot sauce and serve with carrots, celery and ranch flavored Wheat Thins!
