Monday Morning Marathon Meet-Up: Week 12
I didn’t really think about running much this week, because honestly 13 miles feels like an off week at this point… nothing to stress out about. Funny how that happens. I remember that from last time around, but part of me didn’t believe it would ever be the case. Also, we didn’t stop at 12.25 because we couldn’t have finished a half marathon… we easily could have. Honestly, we stopped because we were home, it was cold, and we were risking being late for dinner. What’s another three quarters mile anyways?
Also, apparently our long runs are literally killing us. Encouraging.
Scheduled milage: 31 miles
Actual milage: 25.75 miles
Long Run Summary:
Pre-run dinner: We split a turkey sandwich and fries at the bar and then stopped for completely necessary midnight pizza on the way home. If you hadn’t guessed, you can probably add a good number of beers to the equation.
Pre-run breakfast: Peanut Butter & Jelly “Baked” Oatmeal + a banana and peanut butter immediately pre-run
Hours of sleep: 7-8
Start time: 3:00pm
Weather: Low 30s
Route: Down the mall to the Lincoln, across the Memorial Bridge onto the Mt. Vernon trail, over the key bridge to the Georgetown towpath, past the Kennedy Center and back up the mall.
How I felt: Not great. Not terrible. Slow, cold and tired.
Highlight of run: The fact that 13 miles felt like a short run
Injuries, aches or pains: None
Post-run treat: Birthday dinner for Bia at the Grill from Ipanema!
