Monday Morning Marathon Meet-Up: Week 1
First week of official marathon training went well. I got all of my training runs in, even running to happy hour one night to squeeze in my four miles. That’s definitely dedication, although whether it’s dedication to running or drinking I’m not sure. For me, a run doesn’t really feel worth it unless it’s at least four miles, so I’ve been adding a mile to the short runs. I’ve also been trying to squeeze in some other workouts so that my gym membership doesn’t go to waste. Here’s a recap of week one:
Total miles scheduled: 19
Total miles run: 21
Long run recap:
Pre-run dinner: Indian! A lamb chaat bowl from Merzi
Pre-run breakfast: English muffin with peanut butter and jelly
Hours of sleep: 8
Start time: 11am
Weather: 50 degrees and sunny, perfect running weather!
Route: Down the mall to the Lincoln, across the Memorial bridge and home.
How I felt: Grumpy and not wanting to be running. Cramped up a bit towards the end
Highlight of run: Finding $20!
Post-run brunch: Let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
Injuries, aches or pains: Sore knees immediately post-run, but nothing that lingered.
