In Honor of National Burger Month…

I can’t let May come and go without recognizing its biggest honor: National Burger month.  Here is a quick journey through some of the best burgers I’ve had in D.C., the burgers I’ve made in the past year, and my burger bucket list… let me know what I should add!

Burgers I’ve Enjoyed:

1905: 1905 burger – Pure Angus beef blended with wild mushrooms and house smoked brie.  This was before I took pictures of everything I ate… you know, back when I was fun to take out to dinner.

Matchbox (Brunch): Bloody Mary Burger-  fried egg, cheddar, gouda and bloody mary mayo.  Enjoyed during one of the many ridiculous brunches Jana and I splurged on during marathon training.

Granville Moore’s (Brunch): Sunrise Burger – grilled Bison Burger, cheddar cheese, crispy applewood bacon and sunny side up egg.

Kitchen 2404:  Pit Burger – angus beef with pulled pork, fried egg, creamy slaw, smoked bacon, barbeque sauce, cheddar cheese, and caramelized onion.  This burger is ginormous (if ginormous wasn’t a word before this burger, it is now).  Courtney and I planned to split this and another sandwich… the other sandwich came home whole.

Burger Bucket List:

Bourbon Steak Oak-Fired Prime Steak Burger with piackles, cabot clothbound cheddar and secret sauce
Palena The Palena Cheeseburger
Poste Onion Soup Burger: Virginia grass fed beef, comté cheese, caramelized onion soup, onion bun
Jackson 20 Ground Beef Chuck Burger, Bacon, American Cheese, LTO, Barbeque Aioli, Apple Cider Coleslaw and Fries

Chickpea Burgers with Balsamic Almond Butter Glaze

Herbed Turkey Burgers with Blueberry-Onion Compote and Goat Cheese
